Art & Tech Talk with Patrik Hübner: Designing the Metaverse
- DESIGN SCHAU!
- Young Professionals
In this series, visionary and disruptive founders, artists, creatives and technology experts talk about future topics in music, art, media and tech in an informal atmosphere.
Since the rebranding of Facebook to Meta, at the latest, it has been on everyone's lips: the metaverse. What is meant here is the expansion of the existing Internet into an all-encompassing space of our being and our senses. Data is increasingly taking on physical form there, analog and digital events are becoming haptic design in digital space - all generated in real time.
So far, especially the leading tech companies have discovered the potential of this new way of thinking for themselves and are thus spreading the decisions of these algorithms around the world.
As with any paradigm shift, we as a society are at a crossroads in how the introduction of new kinds of thinking changes our lives. Thus, it seems important to expose these new design paradigms and create a common vocabulary to make the work and approaches that are difficult to grasp for "non-technologists" accessible to everyone. In this way, designers and creative professionals can be enabled to help shape this new world and create an alternative point of view to the digital marketing machines like Facebook & Co.
The Wavelab is the innovation lab and start-up center of the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. We promote experiments and ventures at the interface of music, arts & media with new technologies with an incubator program and inspiring event formats.
