How do smart cities change the way we make and use shoes?
We would like to invite you to the ‘Data enabled short range mobility’ event.
During the online talk we will discuss how can we address a smart city through the view of the shoe and reconsider what shoes are and how they interact with the surrounding. How does the data generated from the smart city help us to make shoes in new ways? How can data generated from shoes help us to make a city better for all the people who live there?
We will discuss shoes as data-enabled short range mobility. We think of shoes as cars, trains and planes for our feet. We present prototypes that explore smart city data as the design basis for new shoes as short range mobility devices. We speculate on how we can make smart city data from our shoes as well. Smart Cities create new opportunities for creative innovators to come up with new products or designs that are connected with the city. How do we make shoes that learn from the city? How do we create databases of all the people who wear shoes in a city? How do we do this in a way that respects privacy (GDPR)? How do we help smart city designers and shoe designers come together to understand the city as a living, growing, complex adaptive system? This event will also bring the issue of ‘on-demand’, additive fashion products in the heart of the city and addresses an exciting, future perspective of sustainable and local fashion retail systems.
Additionally you can see an exhibition of the DESRM prototypes in the Kreative Shop from 11am - 4pm.
