The future takes shape - OPTINEO construction site tour

Ignacio Zarrabeitia from the Spanish architecture firm Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos and Fabian Häusler from WÖHR+BAUER real estate developers give a tour of the new Werksviertel landmark: the OPTINEO.

Nearly 100 years ago, the success story of the Optimol Oelwerke company got underway on the premises at Friedenstraße 10 in Munich. The founding family Maltz wants to continue this tradition by teaming up with the Munich-based real estate developer WÖHR + BAUER, an expert for innovative office buildings, as partner and investor.
Now, on a surface covering 32,000 sqm, the OPTINEO is taking shape as an office building that will serve as KPMG AG's headquarters for as many as 2,500 employees. The building, designed by the award-winning Spanish firm Nieto Sobejano Arquitectos, is based on the idea of enhancing staff satisfaction and economic success through modern workplace concepts.
With its distinctive façade, the OPTINEO stretches its loggias and terraces right next to Knödelplatz up to 65 metres into the Munich sky, while the five-storey low-rise building embraces with fluid designs an inner courtyard that opens towards the new square to activate the interconnection with the neighbourhood.
The future users are at the heart of the planning: In addition to a healthy working environment, numerous social areas and generous open spaces meet the demands of modern office worlds.
