Future Making Lab – Shaping Our Futures Ourselves! (Workshop)
Friday, 20/5 14:00 - 19:00
Reservation required, Free
Hybrid and different? How and where do we want to work in the future? What forms of work will there be, what potential do they hold for cities and rural areas regarding mobility and climate crisis?
In an interdisciplinary exchange, participants explore new forms of work organisation that have been widely tested for the first time in the pandemic using speculative design methods and input from invited experts, and develop their own future scenarios that formulate possible answers to questions such as: What new working models – from home offices, working in third places like cafes and co-working spaces – will there be? How will this change our work and family lives, our cities and rural areas? What impetus will come from digitisation, but also from the desire for face-to-face encounters and exchange? And how can we actively shape the transformation that is about to take place?
The workshop is designed by UnDesignUnit and implemented in cooperation with Steelcase. UnDesignUnit combines competencies and methods from design and design theory and works at the interface to other disciplines and forms of knowledge. With its discursive and participatory formats, it conveys complex issues of the present and makes them tangible. Global leader Steelcase takes a user-centric approach to creating work environments that are safe, inspiring and conducive to productivity.
The scenarios that have been designed in the Future Making Lab will be presented to the public following the workshop at a get-together with apéro.

UnDesignUnit challenges narrow definitions of design practice and explores – against the background of the current expansion of the notion of design – thresholds and new latitudes.
