This is hardly surprising, since the cross-sector transformation toward a sustainable economy is the goal of our time proclaimed by the United Nations and the European Union. As a result of this change and the need to change, companies today not only face the challenges of digital transformation but also the expectation and requirement of doing business in a more sustainable way.

This change provides enormous opportunities and potentials. At the same time, it requires innovative approaches and completely new business models for an organisation to become and remain market leader and top of its class.

Working with data today offers opportunities to further develop and establish internal information flows and a corporate information management. Data provide the basis for new, previously inconceivable solutions if we think them as business-related building blocks to enhance innovation and understand them as enablement for a company's core processes and the associated business models.
